Job Title: Coordinator, Philanthropy – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto
Duration: Full-time
Location: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto Office – 501-2345 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON

Overview:

The Coordinator, Philanthropy is a key member of the Agency Development team, responsible for assisting with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto’s (BBBST) Major Gifts activities, including prospect research, proposal writing, and face-to-face solicitation, as well as running reports from Raiser’s Edge and overseeing the Donor Cycle process. Working closely with the other members of the Agency Development team, the Coordinator ensures the overall success of BBBST’s Major Gifts programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Director, Agency Development, organize the Major Gifts team to accomplish the necessary solicitations required to achieve the annual budget targets
  • Prepare clear tracking and monitoring reports, and help prepare for Major Gifts team meetings
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 125 donors and prospects
  • Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify potential corporations and foundations whose giving criteria and philanthropic interests align with the organization’s programs and mission
  • Write customized letters of inquiry, cover letters, proposals and grant applications
  • Produce and regularly update impact reports to funders
  • Write donor briefing reports and meeting call reports
  • Enter information into Raiser’s Edge database, update and run queries and reports
  • Support the Board of Directors comprised of senior executives by maintaining and updating meeting materials, preparing letters and proposals, attending meetings and drafting minutes
  • Follow up on funding requests and arrange meetings for senior staff and volunteers
  • Assist in the coordination of the gift acknowledgment process (data entry, letter writing, and filing)
  • Manage the Major Gifts donation files, both hard-copy and electronic
  • Attend and support key fundraising events including but not limited to Bowl for Kid’s Sake, Big Night Out and Paddle Royale

Skills and Experiences:

  • University or college equivalent in fundraising education or a minimum one-year fundraising experience
  • Knowledge and practical usage of Raiser’s Edge a strong asset
  • Must be detailed oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Able to multi-task as well as problem solve
  • Ability to work outside customary business hours during periods leading up to and during major events – includes some weekends and evenings
  • Strong knowledge and practical usage of Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Successful vulnerable sector police clearance
